The II School Olympics of Las Rozas have just completed a new edition of this initiative that seeks to stimulate creativity, promote artistic expression, and encourage literary appreciation among Primary students in the municipality. In total, 1,443 students from CEIP Fernando de los Ríos and Mario Vargas Llosa and Zola School participated in this edition, where 12 different artistic categories were proposed, all related to the literary work The Wizard of Oz.

«It is a masterpiece that speaks to us about moral courage and highlights values such as friendship, companionship, trust, solidarity, family, courage, justice, honesty, tenderness, understanding, and in this way, both children and adults will learn that the journey, any journey, is a symbol of personal transformation,» said the Councilor for Education and Culture, Gloria Fernández.

Based on this work as a reference, four general categories have been proposed: Plastic Arts, Dance, Music and Singing, and Storytelling and Poetry. Each of them, in turn, has generated three different subcategories for students in 1st and 2nd grade, 3rd and 4th grade, and 5th and 6th grade, respectively.

Development and awarding of medals
The II Cultural Olympics of Las Rozas began on February 1 with the initial phases of the competition, which took place in the schools themselves with a first selection of the works created. Subsequently, the Jury, composed of members of the Las Rozas Culture Foundation, determined the winners in the semifinal, works that would compete with those of other schools in the grand final held at the Auditorium Joaquín Rodrigo.

Finally, the CEIP Fernando de los Ríos won the gold medal in 8 categories: Painting and Modeling (3rd and 4th); Short Story and Poetry in all three subcategories; Music and Singing (in the categories from 3rd to 6th grade) and Dance, in the same two categories. On the other hand, the CEIP Vargas Llosa achieved two gold medals in Painting and Modeling in the categories of 3rd and 4th grade and 5th and 6th grade.
