¿Tienes dominio de las escaleras del Metro de Madrid?

More than two million people use the metro daily, and one of the most commonly used elements are the escalators. However, it is important to be careful when using them, as sneakers, cart wheels, or even clothing can get trapped. According to data from Metro de Madrid, an average of about ten incidents of this type are recorded each month, mainly caused by passengers’ recklessness.

Just paying a little attention can prevent problems. For example, you can see people with tight pants brushing against the edge of the escalators or even those who use the sides to clean their shoes. But the risk is real: sneakers can get destroyed, and images of footwear trapped in the escalators are clear evidence of this.

Among the most common risky activities are carrying baby strollers or shopping carts up these stairs, as well as not paying attention to loose clothing. «Every day, two and a half million people use the 1,700 escalators in the network,» they explain from the company. With an average of ten incidents per month, the recommendation is clear: use common sense. «Simple and risk-free,» they conclude.
