Procesiones, conciertos y novedades en la Semana Santa de Aranjuez
A total of six processions will fill the streets of Aranjuez with devotion during Holy Week, where, for the first time, the Transfer of the Virgin of the Encounter from the Parish of San Pascual will also take place on April 12 at 7:15 p.m.
The City Council highlighted in a statement that another novelty this year will be the reinforcement of the Holy Tuesday procession with another float, The Agony in the Garden.
Thus, the start of Holy Week will be marked by the Proclamation this Friday, given by the mayor, Miguel Gómez Herrero, at 8:00 p.m. at the Parish of Our Lady of Sorrows. «It is an honor and a deep emotion for me to be the Proclaimer of Holy Week 2025. Thank you for trusting me,» expressed the mayor.
The Strawberry Train 2025 returns to Aranjuez with a stellar novelty: Kayak Route!
In addition to the processions, the Holy Week program includes other proposals such as concerts and guided tours of the churches. Specifically, those interested in exploring the city’s heritage can participate in guided tours of the temples on April 17.
The tour will start at the Royal Palace Chapel at 10:00 a.m. and continue through the parishes of San Antonio, San Pascual, and Our Lady of Sorrows (Alpajés), ending around 2:00 p.m.
Interested individuals can register at the Tourist Office either in person, Monday to Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. They can also reserve one of the 50 spots by calling 918 91 04 27.
Furthermore, the municipal program includes in its cultural offerings a ‘Processional Marches Concert‘ by the Municipal Music School Band Joaquín Rodrigo. It will take place on April 4 at 7:00 p.m. at the Auditorium of the Isabel de Farnesio Cultural Center. The entrance fee is 3 euros.
Finally, the Teatro Real Carlos III will host the ‘Holy Week Concert‘ on April 5 at 8:00 p.m., featuring the collaboration of the Corral de Almaguer Music Band, Magerit Choir, Enrique Granados Choir, and the Royal Chapel of Aranjuez.
