Madrid cools off and activates its urban beach in Madrid Río and 5 misting pergolas
In addition to the municipal and regional pools open since mid-May, the urban ‘beach’ of Madrid Río and the misting pergolas in La Gavia and Plaza de España parks started operating on Friday to help residents and tourists «combat the heat» during the summer season.
The City Council has expanded the cooling areas this year for citizens in Milmarcos square, in the Villa de Vallecas district; Murcia street, in the Arganzuela district; and Oporto avenue, in Carabanchel; which will have temporary low-consumption misters throughout the season. They operate from 11 am to 9 pm until September 15.
