A 46-year-old man has been arrested and taken to prison accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl, a classmate and close friend of his daughter, in an incident that took place last Thursday morning in Usera. According to the victim’s father, the incident occurred around 8:00 am when the girl went to pick up her friend as usual to go to school together, located just a few hundred meters from their homes.

The father explained that his daughter used to wait for her friend at her house, but something changed that day. «Like every morning, she went to pick up her friend to go to school together. Usually, sometimes, the girl would open the door for her to come up to the house and wait while she got dressed, but this time something happened,» he said visibly affected.

Following the incident, the accused man was arrested, and the outrage in the neighborhood was immediate: neighbors took to the streets and some even went as far as to physically assault the alleged culprit when he was seen on a nearby bench after the incident. «I came from the hospital to bring my daughter home and I find him sitting on a bench. Imagine how sick to my stomach I felt (…) the neighbors came out and hit him. Even the neighbors, yes.»

The father, deeply affected by what happened, expressed his desire for justice to be served: «Give him thirty years, forty, whatever it takes, but don’t let him out, let him rot in there.»

According to the victim’s family, they have chosen not to have any contact with the accused’s family, stating that they want nothing to do with them. The father clarified that, as far as he knows, the assault only happened on this one occasion. The investigation is ongoing.
