Mejora de la accesibilidad en calles de Majadahonda
The Majadahonda City Council has invested a total of 168,872.14 euros in accessibility improvement works on various promenades and streets in the municipality, carried out in the last two months as part of the Global Urban Development Plan.
Among the most notable projects is the improvement of the dirt paths located between Coto Blanco Street and Pozuelo Road, frequented by a large number of citizens every day.
These works, with an investment of 47,555.32 euros, have involved the conditioning of all paths and the layout of a new one, with the installation of new LED luminaires, equipped with point-to-point telegestion and the replacement of the sidewalk.

Furthermore, the accessibility improvement works on Virgen de Loreto Street, where 45,948.70 euros have been invested, are also noteworthy. In this case, a new platform has been built for the sidewalk, which in some sections had uplifts due to roots and narrowings due to the placement of tree pits that hindered transit at number 12 on the street.
As a result, the width of the sidewalks has been expanded; a new line of curbs has been installed in the parking area, which is now in line, with re-marking of road markings, and the tree pits inflated by roots have been repaired, removing their curbs and installing drainage pavement.

In Erillas Street, addressing the requests of residents as in previous cases, the light points that caused narrowing of the sidewalks, glare, and dark areas have been renovated and relocated.
In this way, old foundations have been demolished and spurs have been located where the new columns with appropriate heights and powers (according to lighting study) and LED luminaires are placed. The sidewalks have also been repaired, and parking spaces reorganized, with special attention to spaces for People with Reduced Mobility (PRM). All these works have had an investment of 43,848.84 euros.

In addition to the recent actions, we must add the sidewalk conditioning and removal of architectural barriers carried out between numbers 20 and 22 on Monjitas Street, and at number 2 on San Manuel Street, improving accessibility for people with reduced mobility. Works have also been carried out in the area of Travesía de Navaluenga, Rodas Street, and Siroco Street, where residents had reported difficulties for people with reduced mobility.
For this reason, improvements have been made to the slopes, sidewalks have been lowered, and sections with loose tiles have been reviewed. These completed works will be joined in the coming weeks by others included in the Global Urban Development Plan, currently under execution, with the same objectives: to enhance the maintenance of public roads and the mobility and accessibility of citizens, especially the elderly and those with mobility challenges.
