Aprobada la instalación de 14 videocámaras en Collado Villalba

Approval for the installation of 14 security cameras in Collado Villalba. The Government Delegation initially rejected it, but the city council has provided all the necessary documentation to increase surveillance in areas where events such as festivals, fairs, shops, and markets usually occur.

The Videovigilance Guarantees Commission of the Community of Madrid has approved the 14 security cameras requested by the Collado Villalba City Council after correcting the documentation.

This was announced by the Government Delegate, Francisco Martín, after the Collado Villalba City Council expressed its disagreement with the Government Delegation following the denial of their request to install 14 surveillance cameras in various locations in the municipality.

Collado Villalba temporarily without the new surveillance cameras

«It’s a problem with the work carried out by the City Council in incorrectly submitting the documentation required to justify the surveillance camera request,» said the delegate, who stated that the City Council «misinformed the citizens,» as it is an entity presided over by the President of the Madrid High Court of Justice. He criticized blaming others when it was the City Council that «did things wrong.»

On the other hand, the Mayor of the municipality, Mariola Vargas, indicated that «the areas of greatest insecurity are based on reports from residents and collected by the Civil Guard. We are the fourth municipality with an increase in crime rate in 2024, largely related to the issue of squatting, especially around the station square, where squatters are predominantly located.»
