Díaz Ayuso detalla inversiones en El Atazar y Patones para dinamizar entornos rurales y mejorar servicios públicos

Díaz Ayuso, who has convened the Council of Government in an extraordinary manner at the facilities of the Ataza reservoir. «We want to fill our wonderful villages with life and reverse the demographic situation that Spain is experiencing, and which, at least in the Community of Madrid, has already begun to change the trend,» she emphasized.

El Atazar and Patones benefit from the new aid approved and included in Pueblos con Vida – an initiative that is about to celebrate its first anniversary – aimed at commercial and hospitality establishments, with an investment of 700,000 euros and whose call will be open throughout this year to submit applications. The objective of this measure is to promote productive fabric, employment, and proximity services for its citizens.

At the same time, the Madrid regional investment program has invested in the urbanization of Constitution Square and the construction of a Bouldering rock climbing wall for climbers in El Atazar. Shortly, various improvements will be made in paving and access on Cuesta Street and the City Hall Square, as well as work on other crossings. In Patones, on the other hand, the streets of the municipality are being improved and work will soon begin for a more comfortable road access.

Within Pueblos con Vida, both localities have public funds for urbanization, paving, and reinforcement of services in the urban area, the improvement of sports facilities, and other public services. In addition, with the Mobile Citizen Service Office, which has been operating for six months, this service is provided periodically in the municipalities of El Atazar and Patones.

More social investments

Díaz Ayuso has emphasized that since 2019, the Community of Madrid has invested 193 million euros to strengthen social care in the Sierra Norte, through the Social Services Consortium that includes the two municipalities to provide support, assistance, and personalized care to their neighbors.

Since that same year, the regional government guarantees the care of nearly 1,300 elderly and dependent people in the Sierra Norte, a period in which over 500 places in residences, Day Centers, and supervised apartments located in their municipalities have been funded.

The residents of El Atazar and Patones benefit from the home care provided by the Community of Madrid for the municipalities of the Sierra Norte. Between 2019 and 2024, care for people with disabilities in these municipalities has been strengthened through a network of five centers. This includes three residential centers, one occupational center, and one rehabilitation center that provides individualized coverage to over 150 people.

Additionally, another public resource for this area is the 83 places for minors and adolescents in three residential care centers and a children’s home located in different municipalities of the Sierra Norte. Meanwhile, in the health sector, various improvement works are currently being planned for the local clinics of El Atazar and Patones that will be carried out throughout this year.

On the other hand, the Community of Madrid is expanding the on-demand taxi service in the Sierra Norte de Madrid to facilitate mobility in these population centers like these two small municipalities.

The measures of Pueblos con Vida are designed by the Community of Madrid to revitalize municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants, such as El Atazar and Patones. These are a set of key measures to improve connectivity, the conditioning of public spaces, the dynamization of popular festivities, the rehabilitation of rental housing at affordable prices, along with other municipal works and services to also combat depopulation.
