El Puente del Rey se transforma con murales inspirados en el Circo del Sol

The Puente del Rey, an emblematic meeting point in Madrid Río, has become a vibrant canvas thanks to the creativity of five prominent Spanish artists. Inspired by the magic of Cirque du Soleil, Zësar Bahamonte (Seville), Amaia Arrazola (Vitoria-Gasteiz), Lidia Cao (Ordes), Marina Capdevila (Tarragona), and Erik Air (Tenerife) have brought to life five huge containers that now dress the bridge with color and art.

The artists are working diligently to complete their murals, which will be available for Madrileños and tourists to visit until June 27th. This initiative is supported by Global Street Art, the largest organization for urban art and muralism in Europe.

Zësar Bahamonte is immersed in his work, a mural depicting Sara, the accordionist from the ‘Alegría’ show. «We are here starting a mural for Cirque du Soleil. I have found a way to do it that makes me quite happy,» says Zësar, who estimates it will be ready in about five days.

Marina Capdevila has almost completed her creation. «I wanted to represent the ‘Esperanza’ concert from ‘Alegría’. In the central part, we see these two hands inspired by the show’s acrobats, symbolizing a moment of strength and collective work,» she explains. Her work incorporates a humorous tone reflecting the personalities of the show’s protagonists.

Meanwhile, Erik Air has completed his mural, capturing the visual essence of the wheel act. «It impacted me both physically and visually. I used intense colors that reflect the palette of the show itself,» shares Erik.

In addition to beautifying the urban landscape, these impressive creations also anticipate the next Cirque du Soleil show called OVO, which will be presented at the Movistar Arena next March.

OVO tells the charming story of a ladybug capturing the heart of a peculiar insect in a vibrant neighborhood, promising a circus experience full of personality and creativity.
