Galapagar suspende todas las actividades municipales por riesgo de desbordamiento del Guadarrama.

The Galapagar City Council has issued a decree to announce the suspension of all municipal activities. The purpose is to avoid unnecessary travel, ensure mobility on the streets, and be prepared for a possible increase in the emergency level due to rain and flood risk. This measure is taken as a precaution due to the risk of the Guadarrama River overflowing as it passes through Romacalderas.

By now, no incidents have been reported, but forecasts warn that the highest concentration of water could arrive this Saturday, so «any precautionary measure is not enough,» according to the City Council.

MEASURES ADOPTED IN GALAPAGAR

– Suspension of all activities organized by the City Council and sports clubs, including tournaments, activities at Punto Joven, and the musical show ‘FoliaJazz’.
– Halt of pedestrianization to ensure mobility in case vehicles need to be removed from garages in certain areas.
– Suspension of the Solidarity March so that all resources are focused on responding to any warnings or emergencies that may arise.
– Strengthening of the Local Police, Civil Protection, and Cleaning services to inspect sewers and drains to ensure their proper functioning during these days.
– Implementation of a special surveillance operation in areas close to the Guadarrama River in the Romacalderas area.
– In case the alert level rises, residents are advised to stay informed through the City Council’s social media channels and official sources such as 112.
