Hevia, teatro y danza en la nueva programación cultural
The Town Hall of Las Rozas, through the Municipal Culture Foundation, has prepared a comprehensive, varied, affordable, and high-quality cultural program for the second quarter of the year. Starting tomorrow, residents registered in the preferential sales service for residents «Your seat», can purchase and reserve their tickets, while general sales will begin on March 25.
The theatrical section offers El lucero del alba by ADECUR on May 9 and 10; the Casiopea group will perform My Aunt and Her Things on May 15 and 16; and the Peña Recreativa Club 70 will bring to the stage The Great Fortunes on May 29 and 31. Additionally, as part of the 19th ONCE Theater Biennial, the Jacaranda Company will present Autumn Storm in Las Rozas on May 22.
Musical events will kick off with the final installments of the Sacred Music cycle. On April 5, the Contrapunto Vocale choir will perform at the San José Obrero parish in Las Matas, and the cycle will conclude on April 12 with a performance by the Carlos III Orpheon and the ACA Orchestra at the Joaquín Rodrigo Auditorium.
One of the highlights of the cultural program for the quarter will be the 25th-anniversary concert by Hevia in Las Rozas on April 26, where he will perform a selection of his songs. May 10 will feature the Superior School of Music Forum Musikae Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Cristóbal Soler. Additionally, the Hermandad del Rocío de Las Rozas has organized a charity festival for May 17. The Infant and Youth Choirs of Villa de Las Rozas will perform on May 24 with a repertoire of Broadway musicals, while the adult section will present The Force of Lyricism on June 7. Furthermore, the band from the Municipal School of Music will join forces with those from the school and conservatory of Majadahonda in the concert A Three-Way Collaboration on June 14. The musical section will conclude with a concert by the Musikum School scheduled for June 27 at 1º de Mayo Park.
International Dance Day is celebrated every year on April 29 and is a focal point in the new cultural program. On that same day, the Pilar López Municipal School of Dance, together with the Ibérica de Danza company based in Las Rozas, will celebrate this special date with a journey around the world through dance. Additionally, Ibérica de Danza will present Carmen vs Carmen on April 12, inspired by Mérimée’s novel and Bizet’s music; UNEDANZA will stage Swans, Love, and Wind on April 25; and the Alejandro Lara Dance Project will offer Beating and Strumming on May 17.
With families in mind, a puppet show, The Little Martine Mouse and Anton, has been scheduled for April 5; the free children’s film series will screen the animated films Hopper, the Hare-Poll (April 27) and All Dogs Go to Heaven (May 18) at the Joaquín Rodrigo Auditorium.
In addition, students from municipal schools will perform for the public to showcase their classwork and acquired knowledge. On April 1, the piano group from the Joaquín Rodrigo School of Music will perform; the Municipal Dance School will present Alice’s Journey between Dreams and Reality on June 10, 12, and 13; and adult dance workshops will showcase their end-of-course performance on June 14. Furthermore, students from the Yllana Municipal Theater School will offer a series of free performances from June 14 to 26, while the Joaquín Rodrigo Municipal School of Music will celebrate its end-of-course concert on June 19, and the Pilar López Municipal Dance School has organized an Outdoor Dance Night at París Park on June 20.
Exhibitions at Las Rozas exhibition halls will include shows like Pulling the Thread: Textile Languages in Contemporary Art (April 10 to May 4), complemented by the photographic exhibition Textile Visions (April 10 to May 10). The Modern Ruin by photographer Pedro Paillero can be visited from April 11 to May 11 at the Auditorium Hall, and two new exhibitions will open on May 14: The Other Language, an exploration of neurodivergence in paintings by artist and psychologist India Toctli; and Ex-Votos, a journey through the work of Fine Arts students and those from the Senior Workshop at UCM. Finally, Drops by Mariano Cobo will showcase key pieces from the artist’s latest stage from June 13 to July 20.
The cultural program also includes two conferences scheduled as part of the Las Rozas Mental Health Plan. The first, presented by Javier Urra, titled The Person and Their Need for Bonds, will address the importance of social connections in human well-being on May 8; the second conference, on June 5, will feature Silvia Álava discussing the importance of focusing on what we have rather than what we lack, in her lecture Gratitude: A Step Toward Happiness.
The Your Seat service allows residents who register to access the various cultural program offerings starting tomorrow, March 18, in a prioritized manner. Registration can be done through the electronic platform or in person at the Joaquín Rodrigo Auditorium box office during regular hours (Tuesday to Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Wednesdays and Fridays also from 5:45 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.). To register in this database, it is essential to be registered in the municipality.
