Homenaje a Carlos Suárez en El Festival de La Pedriza

From May 8 to 18, La Pedriza will become a meeting point for nature and mountain culture enthusiasts. The festival will offer a comprehensive program with conferences, screenings, cinema, photography, exhibitions, and activities for all audiences.

Organized by the City Council of Manzanares El Real, together with the City Councils of Soto del Real and El Boalo-Cerceda-Mataelpino, the festival has established itself as a national and international reference.

Among others, Siebe Vanhee will participate (Friday 9) presenting his life on the big walls with ‘Riders on the Storm.’

On Saturday 10, it’s Carlos Soria‘s turn to share his experience with ’72 years climbing mountains.’ On Friday 16, there will be an audiovisual tribute to Carlos Suárez, who recently passed away in a skydiving accident.

Jerónimo López will present the conference ‘Manaslu, 50th anniversary’ on Sunday 18, the first eight-thousander ascended by Spanish mountaineers.

In addition, there will be climbing classes, Nordic walking, excursions in La Pedriza, a mountain rescue demonstration by the GERA from the Community Fire Department, and talks in schools, such as the one given by Hilo Moreno, a member of Base Juan Carlos I in Antarctica.
