Homenaje a centenarios de Madrid con exposición en Las Rozas

‘Madrileños centenarios. La sabiduría de la longevidad’ opens its doors at the auditorio Joaquín Rodrigo de Las Rozas to pay tribute to the 1,700 centenarians living in the Community of Madrid. Through 30 photographs and a video where they share their life stories, visitors can reflect on their legacy.

This Thursday, the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, inaugurated the exhibition ‘Madrileños centenarios. La sabiduría de la longevidad’, a photographic display of individuals born before 1924, in the early decades of the 20th century.

“What I miss from my youth is being free”

«With this exhibition, tribute is paid to those who, after a lifetime, have built the Spain that we have inherited today,» emphasized Ayuso. Alongside her, the mayor of Las Rozas, José de la Uz, stated that «the exhibition will help us, residents of Las Rozas, be more aware of how much we owe to our elders.»

Luis Carrasco Muñoz, 111 years old and the fourth oldest person in Spain, as well as Rosario Testa, ‘Charito’, 100 years old, are among the Madrileños featured in the 30 photographs that make up this tribute.

The exhibition, available until December 18, 2025, is part of a project by Red Itiner, a cultural collaboration platform between the regional government and various municipalities, as well as the Mental Health Plan of Las Rozas.

Throughout 2025, ‘Madrileños centenarios. La sabiduría de la longevidad’ will visit other locations such as Soto del Real, Talamanca de Jarama, Alcorcón, or Alpedrete.
