Inauguración de la calle «Hermanos Puértolas» en Las Matas
On May 2nd, the municipality of Las Rozas paid tribute to the priests Francisco and Ramón Puértolas Bandrés, inaugurating the street «Hermanos Puértolas» in recognition of their contribution to the community and the impact they left on the society of Las Rozas. For almost two decades, the Puértolas brothers worked at the San José de Las Matas Parish, turning it into a space of welcome, assistance, and coexistence. Their work has transcended the religious sphere, becoming references of social, educational, and humanitarian commitment.
The inauguration ceremony, attended by the two honored priests and the mayor of the city, José de la Uz, brought together about 300 neighbors, friends, family members, and representatives from the municipal government and opposition. Also present were Paco Tomás, the current parish priest, and Jesús González Alemany, Episcopal vicar of Vicariate VII. Francisco and Ramón Puértolas were responsible for unveiling this new street, located next to the Alemanes promenade in Las Matas.
In his speech, Ramón Puértolas expressed his gratitude to a municipality «that welcomed us as one of its own neighbors. Here we have celebrated more than 2000 baptisms and more than 2000 communions. And we have cherished memories with many residents and families from Las Matas and many other areas of the municipality.»
For his part, De la Uz highlighted the unanimity of all municipal groups in this tribute, «Las Rozas wants to thank you for everything you have given to our municipality and its residents with this street. You have been a meeting point and a source of life for the city.»
