La feria medieval más larga de Europa llega a El Álamo
More than 500 years separate us from the Middle Ages, although in El Álamo it is much less due to its traditional medieval fair. An event that has been repeated every year since the 90s and has become one of the most important in the town, having been declared a Tourist Interest Festival of the Community of Madrid.
From May 1 to 4, coinciding with the May holiday weekend, this Madrid municipality will become an authentic medieval village.
El Álamo celebrates the longest medieval fair in Europe
During these days, more than two kilometers of streets will be adorned with banners, fabrics, and decorations from the era. Additionally, 200 artisans will exhibit and sell all kinds of handmade products.
Visitors will encounter various characters, such as the famous jesters or knights, as this year more than 300 artists will also perform a myriad of street performances that range from medieval weddings and falconry exhibitions to horse jousting tournaments (Plaza de Toros ‘La Chacona’). The latter are among the most anticipated.
The April Fair is also celebrated in Fuenlabrada
El Álamo will enjoy its own Arab souk during this holiday where traditional and exotic products can be found, and next to it, a new gastronomic space will be set up. The annual Celtival Music, celebrating its IV edition this year, with free entry.
