Miles de hectáreas quemadas y viviendas afectadas en Méntrida, Navalcarnero y Villamanta

The landscape after the fire is devastating: burnt grass, grey horizon, and the fear still in the body. The fire in Méntrida, which spread to the municipalities of Navalcarnero and Villamanta, is now considered extinguished.

Now, the municipalities are taking stock. The fire has left 3,200 hectares charred, of which 1,500 hectares belong to Villamanta, and dozens of houses affected.

The Méntrida fire originated in a roadside ditch: a cigarette butt thrown from a car, a possible culprit

The residents of the Calypo housing development have been able to return to their homes, most without damage, as the fire reached the very boundary of the housing development.

After a few days of great fear and battling the fire, it currently stands as the most destructive in the Community of Madrid.
