A hundred national and international artists gathered this Sunday in Madrid for the tenth edition of ‘Pinta Malasaña’, an urban art festival where they showcased their works in spaces provided by merchants, residents, and institutions.

The organizer of ‘Pinta Malasaña’, Diego Casado,, emphasized the importance of the festival in giving visibility to artists: «It is crucial for established artists to showcase their art and quality, as well as for emerging artists to have a platform to create and for the public to appreciate their work,» he stated.

A total of 100 individuals were able to exhibit their art, even though the organization received 500 proposals. «The goal is to have original proposals and, above all, the freedom to create in the businesses where they paint,» he explained.

The event organizer mentioned that some spaces couldn’t be utilized due to waste accumulation from the city’s garbage strike, but he clarified that they managed to overcome the obstacle and celebrated the resolution of the strike.

Participants highlighted the opportunity to «be in contact with other artists, discover their work, and have a visibility platform, as well as the audience’s interest in witnessing the creative process.
