Pinto busca médicos ofreciendo alojamiento gratis

The difficulty in filling medical positions is leading some communities to resort to rather peculiar measures. In Pinto, they want to attract doctors by offering them free accommodation in the municipality. The initiative is open to professionals from all over Spain.

The health centers in Pinto have been classified by the Community of Madrid as difficult to cover. After several meetings between the local and regional governments, the Urgent Care service with a doctor in Pinto was reopened in October 2023.

«It is a widespread problem in our country, and due to the inability of the national government to have more doctors because there is a lack of MIR positions and foreign titles are not validated, we are forced to take this measure,» explains Mayor Salomón Aguado.

PP Communities lash out against the Ministry of Health for avoiding the lack of doctors in summer

To solve this, Aguado has announced that he will resort to ‘comodato’, a contract by which a natural or legal person gratuitously delivers a non-fungible thing to another for use during a certain period, with the obligation to return it at the end of that period.

The town council of Pinto has already begun the procedures to carry it out, and shortly after the proposal became known, there were already interested candidates, such as a doctor from Córdoba, as pointed out by the mayor.

The proposal will be implemented in the second semester of the year.
