The weekend in Las Rozas kicks off with a wide variety of plans and events for the whole family. The Coro Villa de Las Rozas will take the stage at the Auditorio Joaquín Rodrigo to present «La fuerza del lirismo,» a program that includes works like Beethoven’s Romanza in F major, Saint-Saëns’ Rondó caprichoso, Mendelssohn’s Salmo 114, and Gjeilo’s Misa del amanecer, blending the expressive force of Romanticism with the beauty of contemporary sounds. A proposal inviting the audience to enjoy solemnity and lyricism, with moments of great intensity. Directed by Alfredo García Serrano, solo concertmaster, and choral works by Enrique Martín and Kanke García Serrano. «La fuerza del lirismo» can be enjoyed this Saturday from 20:00.

In the exhibitions agenda, the Sala Auditorio hosts the Exvotos exhibition until tomorrow, a dialogue between the students of the «Modelado del natural» subject at the Faculty of Fine Arts UCM and those of the «Escultura: estrategias en los procesos contemporáneos» workshop at the University of Senior Citizens of UCM. A journey through ideas, forms, perspectives, processes, and aesthetic possibilities between two generations of creators.

And in the Sala Maruja Mallo, the artist and psychologist India Toctli exhibits «El otro idioma,» a show that explores neurodivergence as an enriching condition. Her pictorial style, filled with symbols and visions from various cultures, builds an inclusive and universal language. The exhibition can be visited until June 18.

 

Activities of the Mental Health Plan

The Las Rozas City Council continues to develop the various programs included in the municipality’s Mental Health Plan. Thus, this weekend’s agenda includes the conference «Gratitude: A Step Towards Happiness,» presented by Silvia Álava. This conference will address the importance of focusing on what we have instead of what we lack, highlighting the benefits of gratitude for our emotional well-being. The speaker, author of the book «Why Am I Not Happy?», is a doctor in Clinical and Health Psychology, university professor, scientific disseminator, and director of the Álava Reyes Psychology Center. Additionally, she has been awarded the Communication Award from the Official College of Psychologists of Madrid. The conference will be held today, starting at 18:30 at the Auditorio Joaquín Rodrigo, with free admission until full capacity is reached. There will be a nursery service for children aged 3 to 10.

The Mental Health Plan also offers a series of training talks on Astronomy, aimed at young people between 13 and 18 years old, with a new session in the vicinity of HUB232 in El Cantizal. The session scheduled for tomorrow, starting at 18:30, is titled «Spring Sky.»

Another conference will take place this afternoon at 19:00 in the armored van located on Calle San José Obrero, in the Las Matas neighborhood. «History of the Railway and TALGO Technology,» presented by Jose Luis López, Director of Innovation at TALGO, currently retired.

At the La Talaverona Environmental Center, two workshops on the Processionary Caterpillar and garden pests have been scheduled for this afternoon from 19:00 to 20:00 and on Saturday from 11:00 to 12:00. Participants will learn firsthand how to identify pests and combat them naturally (registration requests via email to educacion.ambiental@lasrozas.es).

Additionally, the Youth Club Tu Espacio, aimed at young people aged 11 to 17, has organized an activity called Cacirco for this weekend, where casino games and circus arts will come together to create a very playful and original symbiosis. Furthermore, the youth will enjoy a meeting space to spend their free time with foosball, ping-pong, music, or board games on Friday and Saturday from 17:30 to 21:00 at the Youth Center.

 

Sports Agenda

The end of the school year is approaching, and the Sports Department has prepared various open classes. This Friday, starting at 10:00, the first session will be a special outdoor Pilates session in París Park, focusing on breathing exercises, body strengthening, and core work, ideal for improving posture, reducing stress, and activating the body consciously.

The next session will take place on Sunday, with Yoga as the main focus. The session will also be held in París Park, starting at 11:00, where participants will exercise their bodies through different postures, working on breathing, stretching, and relaxation to release tension and recharge energy. Both activities can be done without registration and are suitable for all levels; attendees only need to bring their own mat and comfortable clothing.

On the other hand, the San José Sports Center will host the IV José Luis Santamaría Football Tournament this weekend, a men’s 11-a-side football tournament organized by U.D Las Matas C.F Las Rozas, featuring the Benjamin, Alevín, and Cadet categories of the first year. It will start on Saturday at 9:00 and run until Sunday at 21:00.

All Star Comunidad de Madrid is the recreational event that will bring together players from all clubs in the Madrid regional inline hockey league, with matches in each category, concluding with the trophy presentation. It is scheduled to take place at the Skating Center this Saturday from 13:00 to 21:00.

 

Las Matas resumes the San José Festivities

The Las Matas neighborhood celebrates some activities of the Festivities program in honor of its patron, San José Obrero, which could not be held on the initially scheduled dates. Thus, tomorrow, Friday, the festivities will kick off with a popular snack organized by the Quitamanías group in the square of the Cultural Center starting at 19:00. At 20:00, the enclosure will host the bull run, where at 21:00, the Cutting Contest is scheduled.

On Saturday, the morning will start at 8:00 with the Diana Floreada. At 9:00, the Er Kite group will offer a popular lunch in the square of the Cultural Center, and from 10:00 onwards, there will be a bull run and the release of heifers.

The Vermouth Dance will not be missing from this weekend of festivities, an event organized by the La Unión group at 13:00 on Saturday, followed by a popular meal offered by the City Council at 14:00, all in the square of the Cultural Center.

The program will end with the novice bullfight without picadors, which will take place at 18:00 in the portable bullring. The novilleros will be Marta Martín, David Gutiérrez, and Juan Pablo Ibarra.

 

Feria MOGY and Magic Shops

The Ferial Grounds of Las Rozas will host the 6th edition of MOGY, the Festival of Mobility and Sustainable Cities, from tomorrow until Sunday, a leading event in its field aimed at promoting, disseminating, and raising awareness of a more sustainable world, presenting the solutions that companies and institutions contribute to creating clean spaces with the greatest resource savings.

At MOGY, where admission is free, visitors will find a wide variety of family-friendly activities. In the Off-road area, they can test 4×4 vehicles and take a test drive; there will be road safety circuits, sustainability workshops; renewable energy companies (solar panels, charging points, etc.); initiation and exhibitions of electric unicycles, among other activities, and a children’s area where the little ones can have fun and learn.

Also planned are a gathering of electric cars, a unique opportunity for all electric mobility enthusiasts; talks and presentations; and food trucks with sustainable food prepared by top chefs. At La Noche MOGY, attendees can enjoy live music. Tomorrow, concerts with pop-rock bands, covers, and music from the 80s and 90s will be offered, and on Saturday, Showpay (19:00), Interferencias (20:30), and the band La Guardia at 22:00 will perform.

Also this weekend, the Magic Shops fair will be held, an initiative of the General Directorate of Commerce of the Community of Madrid, in collaboration with the Las Rozas City Council, bringing stalls, games, gifts, and activities for the whole family to Calle Real on Saturday from 10:00 to 15:00, with the aim of promoting local commerce. Discounts and offers can be obtained, and there will be two contests where participants can win a night at Paradores for two people with breakfast included.
