Vecinos del Bernabéu preocupados por ruidos de conciertos y confían en la Justicia
The Neighborhood Association of Those Affected by the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium has insisted that the noise from concerts «seriously endangers the health of thousands of residents in the area» and has shown «full confidence» in judicial decisions.
This was expressed in a statement in which they recalled the lawsuit they filed against Real Madrid Estadio SL, the company that manages the stadium of the white team, which continues its judicial course due to the «excessive noise» from the concerts held after its renovation.
Real Madrid suspends scheduled concerts at the Bernabéu until March
The neighborhood has lamented that «no representative» of the Football Club’s Board of Directors has contacted the neighborhood association so far.
They criticized that «so much interest is being placed» on holding concerts «despite the serious danger mentioned in the Municipal Regulation on Acoustic Pollution, National Legislation, and European Legislation.»
The complaint argues that these concerts, after the renovation of the white coliseum, constitute an environmental crime and that «from the first one» they have exceeded the noise emission limits established in the municipal regulations, without taking «any measures in the building to avoid undesirable consequences.»
It also states that in the license obtained in 2019 by Real Madrid for the stadium renovation works, «the option of using the stadium for a different purpose than holding football matches is not considered, so for holding other events like concerts, the corresponding authorization would be necessary for each specific case,» they emphasized.
It lists the musical shows and concerts scheduled since April 2024 and states that the sound they produce «implies non-compliance with the urban planning license that requires soundproofing measures to be taken.»
Fines for noise at Bernabéu concerts: 2.6 million euros in 24 sanctions
It is also stated that the owner of the Santiago Bernabéu «had not conducted any study to prevent noise emissions during events, and according to the complaint, in the concerts held to date, «the Madrid City Council received numerous complaints about unbearable noise,» supporting this argument with expert reports from acoustic engineering evaluating the noise impact in the external environment due to the concerts where the noise level allowed by the regulations has been exceeded.
CANCELLATION OF CONCERTS
It was in September when Real Madrid had to announce the «provisional rescheduling» of its stadium events and concerts agenda until improving «the necessary conditions in sound production and emission» to allow musical events without affecting the neighborhood.
The sports club stated that «despite the soundproofing conditions of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium and the reinforcement measures being carried out,» compliance with said regulations by the different organizers and promoters «has been affected by the great challenge they have faced in taking into account all its provisions.»
According to data from the Urban Planning, Environment, and Mobility Area, the City Council processed a total of 11 fines to the promoters of various concerts held at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium since April 26 for exceeding the decibels established in the municipal regulations, with fines reaching a total of 801,000 euros so far.
LOLA ÍNDIGO LEAVES, AITANA STAYS
The artists affected by the rescheduling of the concerts were Aitana and Lola Índigo, scheduled for December 28 and 29, 2024, and March 22, 2025, respectively.
Bernabéu neighbors report ongoing noise problems despite new regulations
Initially, both decided to wait until June of this year to hold their events. However, at the beginning of March, Lola Índigo announced the change of her concert at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium to the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, but keeping the same date (June 14). Aitana, on the other hand, maintains her performances scheduled for the 27th and 28th.
Following the change of venue for the Granada artist, Madrid’s Deputy Mayor, Inma Sanz, informed that the City Council has no updates on progress at the Bernabéu and that it is up to Real Madrid to «report on the various works being carried out.»
