La Comunidad autorizará caza excepcional de jabalíes.
The Community of Madrid will control wild boar populations with the aim of preventing traffic accidents caused by collisions in rural and urban areas (an average of 120.5 per year between 2012 and 2023) as well as other damages caused by an excess of specimens.
Signage will be reinforced, fences improved, and animal alert and deterrent devices installed.
The initiative is projected until 2030 and includes a resolution, to be published this week in the Official Gazette of the Community of Madrid (BOCM), to implement exceptional measures.
Accidents and crop damage, concern in Carabaña due to the proliferation of wild boars
It introduces the declaration of a temporary hunting emergency in ten forest regions of the region and in the municipal areas of Lozoyuela-Navas-Sieteiglesias and Villaviciosa de Odón due to traffic accidents involving these animals.
In these spaces, live capture is allowed with different types and modalities, authorizing Local Entities to use cage/trap, anesthetic rifle, and bow hunting in urban or security locations.
Thus, activities can be carried out during the hunting season in the forms of battue/drive, montería, hunting on foot, stalking, and waits, and outside the hunting season, acting on the potential habitat for wild boars using means to protect crops and livestock operations, prohibiting or restricting supplementary feeding.
Wild boars and deer cause continuous traffic accidents in Collado Mediano
It will be possible to carry out practically all year round, including the option of waits on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
The hunting pressure will also be increased, allowing up to a 50% increase in collective hunting in hunting grounds and reserves.
Likewise, feeding during waits will be allowed to improve control effectiveness, while in reserves larger than 250 hectares, waits without authorization during the closed season can be carried out, through prior communication, repeating a previously driven location in the same season, or using thermal sights.
