Madrid se afianza como epicentro del cine

Madrid is consolidating itself as a filming location for movies, series, and advertising. In 2024, a total of 1,450 productions were filmed in the Community, representing a 32% increase from the previous year.

The capital captured 60% of the filming, but there is an increase in audiovisual productions in a total of 92 municipalities in the region, as reported by the Community.

Villaviciosa de Odón, Pozuelo de Alarcón, Alcalá de Henares, San Martín de la Vega, Aranjuez, and Alcobendas are the main towns in Madrid chosen for filming, after Madrid.

Out of the total productions filmed in the region in 2024, 102 were movies, 132 were short films, 69 were series -59 fiction and 10 docuseries- and 672 were advertising commercials, as reflected in the annual report by Film Madrid.

This growth reflects, according to the regional government, the commitment of the regional government to «protect, facilitate, and incentivize filming.»

Similarly, it highlights the great variety and versatility of locations, sound stages, animation studios, and visual effects available in the Community of Madrid.

The region has over 3,500 sector companies and generates more than 29,000 jobs directly, it states.
