El Gobierno actúa sin rumbo

The President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, lamented on Wednesday that in Spain «we have a Government that is like a headless chicken» and added that «before we knew it as Spaniards, but today it has become clear to the world.»

She criticized Pedro Sánchez for «treating Spaniards like idiots», because «he just signed an agreement in front of the whole world, in front of all the countries that make up NATO, and then tells us that he didn’t sign what everyone saw we signed,» referring to the committed increase in defense spending.

All NATO leaders sign commitment to spend 5% on Defense by 2035

Therefore, she believes that «he is constantly looking for a fictitious controversy, very typical of Bolivarian leaders, who seek an enemy to confront, to encourage their bases without measuring the consequences. And this will be paid for by generations if we continue down this path.»

Ayuso has stated that maintaining the relationship with the United States as a «priority» is essential, while criticizing the «irresponsibility» of «offending» this country. She expressed this during a meeting in New York with the Spain-US Chamber of Commerce, as part of the institutional trip she is undertaking this week in the United States.

«We are a pro-American government that clearly defends freedom, life, business, and property, admiring this country, a beacon for all of the West, which has influenced our lives for decades through culture, series, movies, fashion, and historical and political events,» she defended.

She made these statements on the same day when NATO leaders agreed that the new spending commitment in the organization will be set at 5% of GDP, as demanded for months by US President, Donald Trump. They emphasized that there are no exceptions to the agreement, leading Spain to make an «interpretation» of the pact, indicating that it will meet the military requirements of the Alliance without adhering to a specific spending percentage.

In response, Ayuso has shown the commitment of the Community of Madrid to the United States in the «desire to prevent further barriers» and to ensure they are not «forgotten despite the political noise coming from Spain.»

She also believes that «anything that involves offending, insulting, or using relations with nations like the United States is a serious mistake that future generations will pay for,» as well as being «profoundly irresponsible.»

Sánchez insists Spain will not exceed 2.1% in Defense and Trump warns Spain will pay double commercially

«Because our entrepreneurs and investors are top professionals, from the wine and oil sector to telecommunications, business schools, and engineering, who are Spanish and American and deserve our unwavering support for the excellent work they do and the contributions they make under the rules of the free market that have decisively benefited both economies,» she added.

She also emphasized that not all Spanish governments are «the same», affirming that hers respects «the symbols of the State» and unequivocally defends «the separation of powers, legal security, property, freedom of enterprise, free press, strong institutions, and the concept of doing things correctly.»

Ayuso receives the key to the city of Miami and reiterates her rejection of «impositions and tyrannical policies»

«We also work tirelessly against totalitarian, liberty-killing movements, harassment of businesses, and personal lives, which is why we are often considered a second Miami, which is a source of pride for us (…) the home for all those fleeing from nationalism, communism, and all totalitarian movements in search of opportunities,» she praised.

A LEADERSHIP THAT «INSPIRES» MADRID

On another note, the regional leader emphasized that American companies, brands, and projects have always been synonymous with reliability, efficiency, and high standards, a vision of leadership that «inspires» Madrid.

Despite acknowledging that the US tax policy is «more attractive» than Spain’s, she asserted that Madrid is «a Gallic village within all this», in addition to being a region «as generous as no other.»

«We have always been at the service of Spain, to the extent that we contribute 80% of our revenue to the General State Administration, which funds essential public services in the other autonomous communities,» Ayuso stated, adding that the region has a «historical and political» commitment to Spain.

Nevertheless, she noted that they continue to reduce taxes and simplify administration, highlighting that it is the only region without its own taxes but is the most efficient when starting a project or opening a business.

Thus, the Madrid president has reclaimed Madrid as the «economic engine» of Spain, a region at the forefront of the continent and a gateway from this part of the world.

«It is a place full of contrasts, diversity, blending, vigor, and, above all, freedom. We contribute 20% of Spain’s GDP. This trend will not change in the coming years, as it is the result of successful, reliable, and trustworthy policies that have been consistent over the years,» she emphasized.

THE US WILL BE THE GUEST COUNTRY AT THE 2026 HISPANIDAD FESTIVAL OF THE COMMUNITY OF MADRID

The United States will be the guest country at the Hispanidad Festival of the Community of Madrid in 2026, as announced on Wednesday by the regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, during the unveiling of the new international advertising campaign for the region, specifically targeting visitors from the US, UK, and Mexico.

The regional government has invested 1.7 million euros in this campaign with the slogan: ‘It’s open, It’s Madrid region’, which will be visible — from this month of June until November — on major media and digital platforms worldwide.

«We are not only seeking investors and capital, but also looking for allied partners to grow and build together this promising future,» concluded Díaz Ayuso, encouraging participation in a «vibrant and ever-evolving project» like the Community of Madrid, which is currently thriving.
